Are cannabis terpenes good for relieving pain and fighting opioid addiction? There’s strong evidence that it is.

Research from the University of Arizona Health Sciences has shed light on the role of terpenes with support from Fresh Never Frozen® essential oils.

The study involved blocking the cannabinoid receptor, and it blocked some — but not all — of the behaviors. In particular, it blocked pain relief. This suggests that terpenes may act through the brain’s endocannabinoid system to alleviate pain. When cannabis is ingested, it’s hypothesized that terpenes interact with cannabinoids and other molecules to produce the entourage effect.

This research indicates that terpenes could offer an alternative method for pain management, potentially avoiding some of the drawbacks associated with cannabinoids.
